Hiroki Kuroda-6-13 vs. Matt Latos-5-10

last night the Dodgers recieved more bad news about Rubby De La Rosa's condition. there is a tear in his UCL, and he will need tommy john surgery. normally the recovery time can be over a year. the Dodgers are still going over there options with young Rubby, but it does not seem likly that he will not pitch again this year.
so this will leave the Dodgers with either John Ely, or Dana Eveland to take over Rubby's spot in the rotation. the Dodgers havent decided yet, although they did call up Ely and put him in the bullpen for now. in the meantime, Mattingly has changed his rotation, since there is an off day this week, the Dodgers will skip Rubby's turn.

good thing we didnt trade kuroda huh/ we would have been really screwed having to fill two spots in the roatation.
and so tonight, Hiroki Kuroda will take the mound, just a week after he invoked his no trade clause to remain with the Dodgers. this amazing display of team loyalty has impressed fans and teammates. Kuroda only wants to pitch for the Dodgers. however Kuroda has been one of the most unluckiest Dodger pitchers in years. Kuroda is 6-13 with a 3.11 ERA. the last dodger pitcher, to lose 13 or more with an ERA that low was Kevin Gross who posted a 3.17 ERA while having a record of 8-13 with the then 99 loss 92 Dodgers. in Kuroda's last ten starts he has put up an ERA of 2.66 only allowing 18 earned runs in over 61 innings pitched. unfortunatly for the former Japanese league ERA champion the Dodgers have only averaged a total of 2.3 runs per game during that stretch, giving Kuroda a 1-8 mark over that time. Kuroda is 6-4 lifetime against San Diego

as Kuroda tries to turn his luck around, so will Matt Latos for San Diego, Latos who will counter Kuroda, is having a poor year. he is 5-10 against the League, with a 4.10 ERA. Latos allowed 3 runs over a 5.1 inning no-decision against Arizona his last start. he hasnt won since Jun 27.

Andre Ethier is not in tonight's lineup and I have no idea why. either hes getting a day off, or hes hurt. hopefully, its just a day off, so we will keep you posted.
tonights game is on at 710 on KCAL. well see you after the game. Go Blue!
