Kershaw manhandles San Diego

Dodgers 6 11 0
Padres    2 6   1
WP-Kershaw-13-4
LP-Luebke-3-6
HR-Hudson-3

Clayton Kershaw's star continued to shine bright, as he predictably manhandled a pathetically weak San Diego lineup. Kershaw and the Dodgers won 6-2. Kershaw went 9, allowing only 2 runs off 6 hits, while striking out 4. he even contributed with the bat getting a hit, and scoring a run.
it was a true team effort tonight, as Bison went 2 for 4 with a double and triple, rasing his average to .319. Big rod, Blake and Carroll each had two hits, and Rivera had a hit, scored a run, and knocked in a run for good measure.

Kershaw joins Roy Halladay and ian Kennedy, as the only Pitchers in the national league with 13 wins. Kershaw improves to 5-0 in his last 5 starts.

Gordon led off the first inning with a single, but was erased on an Ethier double play grounder, the Dodgers dont score.

the game started on a down note, with Kershaw allowing a rare first inning run. the Dodgers are the best team in baseball in allowing the fewest first inning runs.

Maybin led off with a four pitch walk, and stole second. he advances to third, on a Bartlett groundout.
headly grounds out, and Maybin is unable to score. the light hitting Guzman gets a frickin lucky ass flare single over Gordon's head to score Maybin. 1-0 San Diego.
Hudson's force out, ends the frame.

the Dodgers tie the game in the top of the second. Rivera singles, and theres a wild pitch that sends him to second. Big Rod singles Rivera to third. this puts runners at first and third, and Loney's sac fly to center, scores Big Rod. tie game. 1-1.

kersh pitches a 123 second ining, and Luebke pitches around a Blake single, as the game stays tied.

Kershaw walks Bartlett in the third, but retires the side.
the Dodgers take the lead in the 4th, Bison leads off and doubles. Rivera's fly out, cant advance Kemp. but he scores on a Big Rod single to left center. this is Big Rod's second hit of the night. 2-1 Dodgers.
Loney's double play grounder ends the frame though.

Kershaw allows a double to the pesky Guzman in the bottom of the 4th, but Hudson grounds out, and theres a foul out to cunningham, ending the inning.

the Dodgers break out to score two more in the 5th. Carroll doubles, Kershaw attempting to sacrfice, lays down a perfect bunt hit. Luebke chooses to pick up the ball instead of let it go foul, and throws high to firts base as Kershaw singles Carroll to third. boy Kershaw does everything well.
the Padres are unable to get an out at the plate. Gordon grounds back to the box, and Carroll goes on contact from third. Luebke throw to home is high, and Carroll slides in ahead of the tag to score. Kershaw is safe at second, and Gordon safe at first.
theres another wild pitch, advancing both runners to second and third. Kershaw scores on a sac fly from Casey Blake. its now 4-1 Dodgers. Dre hits a screaming liner back to the box, but is snared by Luebke, and he doubles up Gordon at third to end the inning.

Carroll slides in safe ahead of Johnson's tag

Kershaw was rolling right along. the weakened light hitting San Diego lineup was no match for Kershaw. Kershaw allowed a Kyle Blanks single in the bottom of the 5th. there is a Luebke sacrifice, sending Blanks to second, but Kershaw gets Maybin to ground out, no problemo.

Luebke retires the Dodgers in order in the top of the 6th, and Bartlett singles to lead off the bottom of the 6th. Headly lines out to Blake, Guzman strikes out, and then big Rod throws out Bartlett trying to steal, to help Kershaw get out of the inning.

in the top of the 7th, Carroll singles and steals second, with two outs, he steals third. this is a wow moment as Carroll doesnt steal many bases. Gordon struck out leaving Carroll stranded at third base.

in the bottom of the 7th, O-dawg leads off with a homer, cutting the Dodgers lead to 4-2.
this doesnt faze Kershaw who retires the next three hitters in a row. Cunningham, Blanks and Johnson all go down.

in the top of the 8th, Blake singles, and is erased on Ethier's feilder's choice. Bud Black makes a pitching change and hooks Luebke and brings in Frieri to pitch to Kemp. Bison triples into the gap to score Ethier, 5-2 Dodgers. Kemp now has 83 RBI to lead the National League. Rivera's sac fly scores Kemp, making it a 6-2 Dodger lead.

Bison slides in safly with a triple

move to the bottom of the 8th. Kershaw starts out by getting Forsythe to ground out, Maybin singles, Bartlett fouls out, a wild pitch sends Maybin to second, but Kershaw strikes out headly on a called third strike, as Headly stands at the plate like a statue. :)

some guy named Hamren pitches a scoreless 9th for the padres. he walks Carroll but strikes out Gordon for the third out.

move to the bottom of the 9th. Kershaw still in, strikes out Guzman, then gets Hudson, and Cunningham to ground out ending the game.

Kershaw gets his fourth complete game of the year.

Kershaw improves to 13-4, and lowers his ERA to 2.68. Kershaw went 9 allowing only 2 runs on 6 hits, walking 2 and striking out 4. this was Kershaw's fourth complete game of the season.

there was bad news today, and I wanted to start out with the good news first, before I give the bad. the good news being the Dodgers won of coarse. before the game we learned that the Dodgers placed pitcher Rubby De La Rosa on the DL, with what was discovered to be a damaged ligament, originally diagnosed as shoulder inflammation. the Dodgers dont know how long he will be out, but with ligament damage, he might not return this year. he had complained during a bullpen session about discomfort, then after his last start the Dodgers knew there was something wrong, and ordered an MRI.
John Ely was recalled from Albuquerque, and will take his spot in the rotation. very tough break for the Dodgers. thank god we didnt trade Kuroda or we would have been really screwed.

speaking of Kuroda he will take the mound tomorrow night and will draw Tim Stauffer on KCAL.
tough news today about DLR, but great win for Kershaw and the Dodgers. well see evryone tomorrow.
Go Blue!
