Rain, Rain Go Away

Last night I didn't stay up to witness the four rain delays and eventual postponement of the game. After the first lengthy rain delay, they should have just called the game. Instead they resumed later and had to frequently halt due to the weather extending the game into the wee hours of Saturday morning. I woke up this morning to see that the game was stopped in the top of the 9th inning in a 2-2 tie after Kemp had singled with no outs. Matt Kemp's bat must be a rainstick, because after his double in the second inning the downpour commenced as well! Kuo is the pitcher of record for the Dodgers, and Bell was on the mound for San Diego. Which brings into question a possible sticky situation since the Dodgers will only have a few pitching options left if the game goes into extra innings, and of course there's no doubt it will. Hopefully the Dodgers can score in the 9th, and Kuo will be able to close out the game in the bottom half of the inning. Well we know that things won't be that easy most likely. Then we will hope to see Blake Hawksworth churn out a few innings since I believe the Dodgers only have Cormier and Broxton left after. We will see how Donnie handles this one!

So what we'll do is our usual pre-game post for game two which will start 20 minutes after the first game concludes which will be restarted at 5:35pm. I will post a double duty post-game wrap which will include the conclusion of game one and then follow with game two's results.

Hiroki Kuroda (1-0, 3.86 ERA) will go to the mound for the Dodgers in hopes of securing his second win of the season. He had a solid start against the Giants in his first game. Kuroda has had 10 career starts against the Giants, and is 5-4 with a 4.61 ERA. Dustin Moseley (0-1, 1.29 ERA) will pitch for San Diego after losing in his first outing to the Cardinals.

Rafael Furcal hurt his left wrist on a check swing, and he won't be able to play in the second game. He reportedly has no trouble throwing, and he will start the first game in the field. Mattingly hopes that he will be okay for tomorrow's game.

Go Blue x2!!!
