*Ely does look like actor Mathew McConaughey, check it out!*

well the latest edition of Elymania officially ended today, just as fast as it begun in San Diego, as the Padres beat the Dodgers 7-2 to avoid the Sweep. the Dodgers who entered into this series having lost 5 in a row at petco, won the first two of the series, but Donnie decided he just wasnt in the mood for winnin today, giving Ely the start even though Garland had told the team he was ready to go.

Ely was predictably crappy, the herky jerky junkball thrower, lasted 5.2 innings giving up 4 runs off 6 hits, two homeruns, 3 walks, and 5 Ks.

The Dodgers just couldnt hit Harrang which is really an embarassment, as he won his second game of the season.

the Dodgers scored first in the opening inning, without a hit. Gwynn walked, and stole second. (the Dodgers had 10 steals in the series!). Miles sacrificed him to third, and he scored on an ethier ground ball.

in the 3rd inning, with 1 out, venable walks, then is thrown out trying to steal on a great tag by Carroll. the ball was on its way into center field, and Carroll made a great leaping catch, and diving tag on Venable. with 2 outs, Ely gives up a double to O-Dawg, and a single to cantu scoring O-dawg. but strikes out Hawpe to end the frame.

in the 4th inning Hundley leads off with a homer into the upper deck. 2-1 SD

move to the top of the 6th. Ely leads off with a walk, and gwynn singles him to second. and the Dodgers have something going until.....

*TOOTBLAN ALERT*-Ely maybe missing a sign or something, gets picked off of second base, and runs the dodgers right out of the inning.

in the bottom of the 6th, Ely clearly annoyed by his TOOTBLAN. strikes out cantu and hawpe, but couldnt get out of an inning again. after ludwik walks, Hundley homers to center, making it 4-1 SD. after a double to patterson, Ely is taken out for Jansen, who strikes out gonzalez to end the inning.

in the 7th the Dodgers had their best chance to get back in the game thanks to an error by Harrang, but they couldnt capitalize. Kemp, who is on fire, singles and steals second. Loney hits a grounder back to the box, in which the Pads had Kemp dead to rights at third, but Harrang hilariously throws the ball away allowing Kemp to score and Loney to go to third. 4-2
Gregerson replaces harrang, and hits Uribe in the arm. with runners at first and second, the worst thing that Big Rod could do would be to hit into a double play, which is exactly what he does. Carrol strikes out to end the ining.
in the 7th Maybin homers extending the lead to 5-2

moving along  to the bottom of the 8th. the Dodgers bring in Lance Cormier, who gives up his usual two runs. Cormier who makes us remember what having Dotel was like, after ludwik grounds out, hundly walks, Headly grounds out. there is two outs! but unfortunatly for the Dodgers, Cormier exists, so of coarse a flury of SD hits plates two more runs. gonzalez, a guy who hits .200 singles. wild pitch, gonzalez goes to second. Maybin triples him in for a 7-2 lead.venable grounds out to end the inning. Cormier needs to be immediatly DFAd

submarine guy Pat Neshek pitches a scoreless 9th despite a kemp single.

The Dodgers cant be giving away games like this. starting Ely, batting Miles at the top of the lineup, and not playing Blake when hes been hitting well, and we need his bat.
its a learning experience for Donnie, and class is still in session as the Dodgers now fly to San Francisco, to take on the giants in the lions den. tomorrow is Kershaw vs. Bumgardner at 705 on KCAL. if the Dodgers can win 2 out of 3 they will split the roadtrip at 4-4, which would be fine by me.
check in tomorrow Dodger fans, until then.......go blue!
