Ethier Goes For 25 Straight As Loney Watches From Bench

Padres @ Dodgers
7:10 pm
Game 1

Fans at tonight's game will get the opportunity to witness history as Andre Ethier tries to extend his record hitting streak to 25 games. He already has the longest April streak ever for MLB. He will try to tie Paul Lo Duca's 25 game streak from 2003. Willie Davis holds the Dodgers franchise record for 31 games back in 1969. He will have to face a lefty, Clayton Richard (1-1, 3.95) which Ethier is only 1 for 13 against. He is hitting .441 against righties and .222 against lefties so far this season.

The Padres have had pretty good pitching, but their offense has been hurting recently. The Dodgers won 3 of 6 games on their recent road trip, but the Padres have lost 6 of their last 7 games and are mired in last place in the NL West. Last time the Dodgers played them in San Diego, they won 2 out of 3 in the series. Ted Lilly(1-2, 5.13) is coming off of an underwhelming start at Wrigley field where he gave up 11 hits and couldn't get out of the 5th inning. In 12 games against the Padres in his career, Lilly is 6-3 with a 3.12 ERA.

Casey Blake was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an infection in the bursa sac of his elbow. We're not sure how long he could be out for. Russell Mitchell was called up from AAA.

Lineup:

Carroll 6
Sands 3
Ethier 9
Kemp 8
Uribe 5
Thames 7
Barajas 2
Miles 4
Lilly 1

There is an exciting change to the lineup this evening, as we find Jerry Sands not only playing first base instead of James Loney but also second in the batting order. Juan Uribe is also returning to the lineup, and will play third base. Thames will play in left.

Let's see if we can pick up a game and break free from .500 mediocrity if only for a brief stint! Go Blue:)
