Normally we do in depth game recaps, where we take you through the game almost inning by inning. however I just cant do it tonight. Im sorry guys. there is really no need to. the Dodgers got killed again tonight. they lost their fourth straight in a row, and the cardinals are now averaging about 1800 hits and 30,000 runs per game. the Dodgers are now 6-8 and 5.5 games back of the Bastard Rockies who won again tonight to improve to an improbable 11-2.
the cards scored 11 runs tonight, off of 19 hits, with 4 home runs. two from Albert Pujols, and two from Lance Berkman. yeah I think pujols is out of his slump. this was just what he needed some good ol fashioned meatballs! although to be fair, 4 of the runs scored in the 9th inning off of the worst pitcher in baseball Lance Cormier.
on the night when everyone wore number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson, the Dodgers should have been ashamed.
Garland was terrible, in his debut tonight, after missing most of spring training with a strianed oblique muscle.
he lasted just 4 innings, allowing 5 runs off of 9 hits, and striking out only 2. he also commited his first balk of his carreer. I wont even get into the horrendouz umpiring all night.
lets go through the good the bad and the ugly so far this year.....
THE GOOD
MATT KEMP-.444 20 for 45 average .537 OBP. 2 home runs 8 RBI-8 SB
ANDRE ETHIER-.360 average 18 for 50-.429 OBP-11 game hitting streak
CLAYTON KERSHAW-2-1 1.37 ERA-24K/4B
JAMEY CARROLL-.372 average-.413 OBP
THE BAD
TED LILLY-0-2 6.00 ERA
THE DODGERS-8 HRS-LAST IN RBI WITH 38-TEAM AVG .255
THE DOWNRIGHT UGLY
LANCE CORMIER-11.57 ERA (worst pitcher in baseball)
TED LILLY-allows two hits to mike fontenot, one being a go ahead home run.
THE ENTIRE DODGER INFIELD-LONEY-.184 average-9 for 49
JAUN URIBE-.146 average 6 for 41-.239 OBP.
the entire dodger infield has 1 home run 14 RBI
These stats are current as of tonight's game. I dont know what else to say at this point. the Dodgers seem stuck with a bunch of overpaid underperforming veterans. I know that it is very early, and they have plenty of time to turn things around, but it is not looking good. can we please please please call up Jerry Sands?
on a good note, Padilla is close to returning and should pitch in a rehab assignment sometime next week. Gibbons and Fatty Navarro are also getting closer to returning as well.
thank god Kershaw is on the mound tomorrow. I would suggest all Dodger fans get extremly intoxicated tonight, as I will be doing in order to forget about the last couple of games. Kersh against McClellan tomorrow at 710 on prime ticket. goodnight Dodger fans.....GO BLUE!
