Dodgers uncover buried treasure of runs at PNC park

Dodgers 10 15 0
Pirates      3   7 2
WP-Lilly-3-3
LP-Correia-5-3
HR-Kemp-7-Mccutchen-(2)-7

The Dodgers trying to dig themselves out of this self inflicted hole, looked to even things up in PNC park, as they try to locate the utltimate buried treasure, RUNS! it was a close pitching duel until the 6th inning, until Dre, Bison, and Carroll spear head the Dodgers offense to explode uncovering a buried treasure trove of runs, as the Pirates have a mini meltdown of their own in the 8th.

the Dodgers threatened in the first inning off of Quality arm Kevin Correia. Carroll singles, and Miles slaps a single past third base down the line. with runners at first and second, Dre grounds into a 3-6-3 double play, erasing Miles, but Carroll the lone runer now advances to third. then Kemp strikes out.

Ted Lilly looked very strong early on, as good as weve seen him this year.  Lilly achieved a milestone in the bottom of the first, with 1 out, he struck out Jose Tabata. recording his 1500th career strikeout.

the game went on very quickly, as both pitchers exchanged zeros. by the 6th inning, the pirates only had two hits off of Lilly, and 1 walk. a third inning single from Mccutchen, and a fourth inning single by Pearce.

as usual the Dodgers little ball lineup struggles to do anything. but finally with the score still tied at 0-0, the Dodgers finally broke through in the top of the 6th. after Sands and Lilly ground out, Carroll singles, and Miles bunts for a hit down the third base line. Dre follows by fisting a single into center, scoring carroll from first base, and Miles advancing to third. Kemp then comes up and scores everyone by slugging a home run to center field. 4-0 dodgers!!!

in Lilly's last inning of work, the Pirates come back to score two. Mccutchen, the bastard center fielder who robbed Kemp of a home run yesterday...(no one was robbing Bison tonight though he he he) slugs a home run to left field. Lilly a bit shaken, allows a leg double to Tabata. however he was able to limit the damage.  DIaz grounds out, advancing tabata to third. he would end up scoring on a Neil Walker sacrifice fly. Pearce grounds out, as the inning ends with Lilly and the Dodgers up 4-2

Lilly is hit for in the top of the 7th, but the Dodgers score a much needed insurance run.  with Correia still in, and 1 out, Big Rod, doubles into the gap, as he barly makes it into second base. atoning for an earlier play where he singled and was thrown out trying to take second.
Sandman then hits a line drive single back up the box, that deflects off of Correia's foot, first baseman Pearce grabs the ball and attempts to do a behind the back flip to first, the ball bounces and rolls towards the Dodger dugout, as Big Rod scores, Sands ending up at second base from the error.

Daniel Moskos replaces Correia, and gets Gibbons to pop out. Carroll walks, but Miles grounds into a force out. 5-2 Dodgers.
Correia goes 6.1 allowing 5 runs 10 hits zero walks and only 2 strikeouts.
Lilly however was very good. going 6 innings, allowing only 2 runs off 4 hits, walking only 1 with 4 Ks.

Hawksworth, comes in to pitch the 7th. he allows a single, fly ball, then a force out.  with two outs, he injures himself while stepping off the mound, and has to come out. Guerrier enters the game, and we all prepare for the worst. former dodger Xavier Paul comes off the bench for the pirates. it is very bizzaro seeing Xman wearing black and yellow. Guerrier though gets Xman looking on a called third strike.

The Dodgers up 5-2 and still hungry for more runs, start off with 3 conescutive hits, from Dre, Kemp, and Uribe off of Crotta to start the 8th. Uribe's single scoring ethier, and sending Kemp to second. after a wild pitch moves the runners over to second and third, Loney is walked to load the bases. Resop is brought in to relieve Crotta, and the walkapalooza ensues! after big rod strikes out. Sands walks, kemp scores 7-2. comically Guerrier is left into hit (he did not pitch the 8th), and he walks too, scoring uribe its now 8-2 Dodgers. after a coaching visit to the mound, Carroll strikes out, but Miles singles scoring two runs, and the Dodgers go up 10-2!

oddly Guerrier is made to go out to the mound to start the bottom fo the 8th, but its just to stall for time, so Donnie can bring in the worst pitcher in baseball, Lance "why am I employed Cormier" I think I throw harder than him. getting Cormier through two innings is nearly impossible. even 8 run leads are nothing to this guy. Mccutchen, predictably homers, his second of the game. Cormier allows a double to tabata, but is able to get out of the inning only allowing a single run. Cormier only allowing 1 run, is like pitching a no-hitter!

Resop is left to finish the 9th, there is an error on a tony gwynn grounder, and a hit to loney, but the Dodgers dont score.

Cormier pitches the 9th, and it goes smoothly a very rare result, a 123 inning for Cormier to end the game, as the Dodgers win 10-3. the Dodgers pound out 15 hits today! when was the last time you see them do that? looks like its back to .500 for the bucs!
lets save some of those runs for tomorrow, ok boys? a job well done today. may I have another please?
tomorrow Kuroda vs Maholm at 405. lets keep this going! go blue!

*update* Hawksworth, hurt his groin muscle, and is said to be day to day*
