Put Those Brooms Back in the Closet

Dodgers 0 4 1
Rockies 3 8 0
WP-Jimenez (1-5)
LP- Garland (1-5)
HR- Helton (7)

Well if you're a struggling pitcher with absolutely no wins on the season, no problem, just head on over to Dodger Stadium! We'll help you get that win you've been yearning for quite easily with little to no resistance whatsoever. The Dodger's three game winning streak comes to an end tonight as Jon Garland's underwhelming yet not completely horrible start is overshadowed by Ubaldo Jimenez who only made 106 pitches in a complete game shut out against the Dodgers. Garland and Jimenez both now have a 1-5 record.

The Dodgers could only muster 4 measly hits, all singles and only got one runner, Hit Machine, to second base in the bottom of the 9th inning. You can sum up the Dodger's offense pretty quickly. A single for Gibbons in the 2nd, a single for Ethier in the 4th, a pinch hit single for Miles in the 6th, and a single for Hit Machine in the 9th. The Dodgers went down 1-2-3 in every other inning against Jimenez. Jimenez didn't even walk one batter.

Wigginton lead off the 2nd inning with a triple to center field as Kemp tried to dive for the ball and hurt his finger a bit. Morales' fly ball scores Wigginton and gives the Rockies a 1-0 lead.

In the 3rd, Smith leads off with a double. Herrera bunts Smith over to 3rd. CarGo's fly ball scores Smith, 2-0 Rockies.

In the 4th Helton hits a solo homerun making it 3-0.

In the 6th, Garland strikes out Helton for the second time and has a 1-2-3 inning, but he would be lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the 6th.

Garland goes 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and striking out 2.

*Rookie Alert* Josh Lindblom makes his Major League debut in the 7th inning in relief of Garland. He's very sketchy though. Morales singles and he goes to second on a wild pitch by Lindblom. Fowler singles Morales to 3rd. Jimenez sac bunt gets Fowler to 2nd. Smith hits into a force play and Morales is out at home. Fowler takes third on the play. Herrera hits a groundball and Loney makes a great play to save a couple runs. Phewwww....rookie made me nervous!

Elbert comes into pitch the 8th and is extremely sketchy as well. Mullet doubles, they walk Wigginton intentionally, then Morales reaches on an error by Carroll to load the bases with 2 outs. Donnie then brings in Guerrier who gets Fowler to ground out to Sands to end the inning.

Guerrier pitches the 9th and has a surprising scoreless inning and strikes out Jimenez and Smith. In the bottom of the 9th, the Dodgers last whimper is heard when Hit Machine leads off with a single. Blake's groundball gets HM to second, but then Ethier flies out and Kemp whiffs to seal the deal for Jimenez.

Jimenez goes the whole 9 innings, allowing only 4 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, and striking out 7.

Well the ohfers were back in full force tonight Dodger fans. Tomorrow is a much needed off day as the Dodgers hit the road for a nasty East Coast trip that may get ugly. We'll have some additional help with Padilla and Uribe expected back. First stop, Cincinnati. Hiroki Kuroda will be pitching in game 1. I will be out of town for the weekend and actually in the Lion's Den a.k.a. San Francisco, so Scott will be updating me and holding down the fort. See you Monday! Go Blue:)
