Branyan's homer gives Dodgers another series loss

Russell Branyan's two run go ahead home run, handed the Dodgers another series loss, and Chad Billingsley another loss as well, even though he only allowed three hits.

the Angels only had three hits, but needed just one to beat the Dodgers.


the Dodgers threatened early on, in the second. Loney and Miles both single, Loney runs through a tim wallach stop sign, but is safe at third. Oeltjen strikes out, while Miles steals second base, but Ellis and carroll both strike out in typical this year fashion for the Dodgers.

it was a scoreless game, until the Dodgers scored their only run of the game in the top of the 6th. Furcal singles, Ethier lines out, Furcal steals second, After Kemp pops out, Loney doubles off of Bourjos' glove, scoring hit machine, 1-0 Dodgers.
Miles would walk, and Oeltjen reaches on Santana's throwing error, but Ellis grounds out ending the inning.

the game gets away from the Dodgers in the 7th inning. Abreu leads off with a ground rule double off of Bills. a wild pitch advances him to third, and he scores on a Vernon Wells ground out. tie game.
it doesnt stop there. after Kendrick is hit by a pitch, Callaspo flies out. Branyan homers to give the Angels a 3-1 lead, and a dagger in the Dodgers coffin.

other than a Loney double in the 8th inning, the Dodgers would all go down in order to end the game.

the Dodgers return home dejected and mired in last place. tomorrows game is a 605 start time, with Rubby De La Rosa on the mound. go blue.
