This just in...Ronnie Belliard was designated for assignment, and Trent Oltjen, an Australian, was called up from Albuquerque. Just when we thought we couldn't get enough of Belliard's bumbling defense and helicopter whiffs at the plate, we finally get a reprieve! Let's take a gander at Belliard's stellar numbers this year! In 82 games played he has had 162 ABs with 35 hits, 2 HRs, 19 RBIs, 35 strikeouts, and a blistering .216 batting average and .295 OBP. Buh-Bye!

Well, I missed most of last night's game due to some high school drama that I needed to attend to. Looks like it was a typical loss with a scanty 2 runs and of course an abundance of men left on base. The only note that had my brain spark up from the deep slumber that the Dodgers' offense has put it in is that Pod hit a homerun!

The Dodgers are now at .500 for the first time since May 12th, and they have lost 5 of their last 6 games. San Diego pushed back Mat Lato's start to today due to the stomach flu. Right-hander Latos leads the NL with a 2.25 ERA, and he hasn't allowed more than 2 runs in a start since June 4th. Since the Dodgers scarcely score more than 2 runs per game, this should keep everyone at the status quo. The lefty Clayton Kershaw struckout 11 batters over six innings in his last outing, but the Dodgers still lost to the Phillies. Kershaw's first innings are notoriously sketchy, and last time out he allowed a leadoff homer to Jimmy Rollins and then another leadoff homer to Shane Victorino in the 2nd.

The Dodgers need just one more win at Petco Park to complete their first winning season in San Diego since 2004. Go Blue:)
