Dodgers 1 5 0
Padres 2 5 0
W-Latos 14-5
L-Kershaw 11-10
S-Bell (39)
Losing their 4th in a row, the Dodgers now dip below .500. It was a battle of the 22 year-olds as Clayton Kershaw and Mat Latos both went 7 innings. Kershaw had 6 strikeouts while Latos struck out 10. Kershaw's troubles came in the 2nd and 3rd inning when Adrian Gonzalez, Tejada, and Hundley all singled. Cunningham's fly ball scored Gonzalez to put the Padres up by 1 in the 2nd. The next inning Denorfia singled and Adrian Gonzalez doubled him home. Of course 2 runs would be more than enough to put away the Dodgers once again. It looks like they are planning their winter vacations as we speak.
Casey Blake singled in the 2nd. After that the only glimmer of a hint of any type of run producing offense came in the 6th inning. Pod doubles, and Hit Machine singles him home. Hit Machine also had a stolen base in the inning. The other Dodger hits came from a surprising Kemp single in the 7th and a nice pinch hit double by Carroll in the 8th.
Jansen came in and pitched a perfect 8th inning striking out two. The Padres sent in their closer, Heath Bell, to pick up after Mike Adams came in and gave up the double to Carroll. Bell struck out 4 including Ethier for his 3rd whiff of the game. The Padres fend off the Giants who also won again tonight. I'd like to see Torre use some of the fresh bats we have brought up in recent days instead of this stale lineup. Let's have an opportunity to see what these guys can do, instead of just going through the motions until September runs out. Scott will be back tomorrow for the final game in San Diego. Go Blue:)
