The Dodgers field the same old lineup that is killing them, and of coarse we all know, they have zero and I mean zero chance of winning with this lineup. the bottom half of the lineup is like a blackhole, and the Cards are showing us what a real lineup looks like. and even our starting pitching has gone south this week. take a look at the batting averages above. after Kemp its pathetic. the Dodger infield is punchless and contributed absolutly nothing. Loney and Uribe are awful. the bench is useless. and Im about done with Loney. im done with him. I understand why uribe has to play, considering injuries, and big contract, but loney? cant we at least stick Thames there in the meantime? I dont know what happened to him, but hes done, finished cooked.
the last half of the lineup is like a blackhole, its getting so ugly actually that after last nights loss, Donnie met with Collettti, and the director of the minor leagues, to discuss their options. hopefully there discussing Jerry Sands debut in LA which will be soon I hope. its not Donnie's fault though. hes stuck with a bunch of underperforming useless veterans. Donnie cant turn chicken shit into chicken salad.
as ethier looks to extend his mlb leading 13 game hitting streak, Bills is looking to get the Dodgers back on track, although he has never pitched well against the cardinals with a career 1-3 record. Carpenter on the other hand has never lost to the Dodgers (career 6-0 record).
one good news report to give you, Padilla is all set to begin his first rehab assignment today in single-A ball. if hes ok he should reutrn to the dodgers on their next road trip, which would finally signal the end of the line for Cormier. when this happens there will be a celebration.
can the Dodgers snap their 5 game losing streak and actually win a game? lets hope, but with this lineup dont hold your breath.....GO BLUE!

The Dodgers drop their third game in a row to the Cardinals and their 5th game in a row overall falling to 3 games below .500. Tonight's game looked pretty much the same as the previous two, with St. Louis clamoring the Dodgers with hits, and the Dodgers meekly sitting in idle failing to score with runners in scoring position. Clayton Kershaw could only go 4.2 innings after pitching 30 pitches in the second inning and 40 pitches in the third. He allowed 6 hits, 5 runs, 5 walks, and struck out 5.
Kershaw started strong going 1-2-3 and striking out Pujols in the first inning, but his pitch count spiraled out of control in subsequent innings. In the second inning he walked Freese, allowed singles to Craig and Laird to load the bases, but he gets out of the jam after striking out both Greene and McClellan.
The Red Birds would get their first of many runs for the night in the third inning. Theriot singles, Rasmus walks, Pujols strikes out for a second time, Holliday walks to load the bases, and Theriot scores on Freese's fly ball making it 1-0 Cards.
In the fourth there's more scoring for the Cards. McClellan walks, Theriot (yes, Theriot) doubles off the wall scoring McClellan but then in usual TOOTBLAN style, Theriot is tagged out between 2nd and 3rd. 2-0 Cards. In the bottom of the fourth the Dodgers would get one of two of their runs when Ethier singles which extends his hitting streak to 13 games, Kemp singles, Uribe's fly ball advances Ethier to 3rd, and Ethier stealthily avoids the tag at homeplate and scores on Loney's grounder making it 2-1. Kemp is robbed of a stolen base when the ump orders him back to second base after Bog Rod is hit by the pitch.
Kershaw can't make it through the 5th inning after Pujols singles, and Holliday walks. Mattingly pushes his luck with a tuckered out Kershaw hoping he can make the last out. Nope. Allen Craig slams a 3-run HR making it 5-1. MacDougal comes in and gets the last out.
In the 6th MacDougal hits Greene, and the umps give their usual daily warnings. Greene steals 2nd, and MacDougal commits an error attempting to pick off Greene at second throwing the ball into center field and allowing him to score making it 6-1.
Kenley Jansen pitches a 1-2-3 inning in the 7th. Ivan De Jesus gets his first career hit in the bottom of the inning.

Clayton Kershaw (2-1, 1.37 ERA), one of the few bright spots on the Dodgers struggling roster, will go for his third win of the year tonight at Dodger Stadium. Clayton has racked up 24 strikeouts in 19.2 innings pitched, and has become a dominant force to be reckoned with even at his young age. Kersh is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in his career against the Cardinals in 6 starts. He will go up against Kyle McClellan (1-0, 2.25 ERA), who has stepped up to join the Cardinals starting rotation after Adam Wainwright was lost in Spring Training and had to undergo elbow surgery. He has started twice, and last outing against the Diamondbacks recorded his first win.
The Dodgers are now two games below .500, and will be pressing to fight off a hot hitting St. Louis club who have slugged at least 14 hits in each of their last 5 games. Albert Pujols is 6-12 against Kershaw, and Matt Holliday is 5-14 against him in his career.
The Dodgers are mired in 4th place in the NL West, just above last place Arizona. The Dodgers need to find some offense somewhere with Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier being the exception.
I'm not going to rehash the nightmare of a game last night. Obviously the Dodgers are in no shape to take on the offense machines of clubs like the Rockies or Cardinals at this time. I'm not even going to mention the "C" word. He's my new stomach-churning bumpen king taking over from George Sherrill's departure. I'm just longing for Padilla's swift return.

More bad news comes out for the Dodgers this afternoon. Hong-Chih Kuo is placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive from 4/14 for a lower back strain. Ramon Troncoso is called up in his place. So now we know that "location issues"=injury.
Carroll gets the night off, while Uribe takes over at shortstop tonight. Miles will be at second base.

Dodgers lose 11-2 Cardinals take extra batting practice

Normally we do in depth game recaps, where we take you through the game almost inning by inning. however I just cant do it tonight. Im sorry guys. there is really no need to. the Dodgers got killed again tonight. they lost their fourth straight in a row, and the cardinals are now averaging about 1800 hits and 30,000 runs per game. the Dodgers are now 6-8 and 5.5 games back of the Bastard Rockies who won again tonight to improve to an improbable 11-2.
the cards scored 11 runs tonight, off of 19 hits, with 4 home runs. two from Albert Pujols, and two from Lance Berkman. yeah I think pujols is out of his slump. this was just what he needed some good ol fashioned meatballs! although to be fair, 4 of the runs scored in the 9th inning off of the worst pitcher in baseball Lance Cormier.
on the night when everyone wore number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson, the Dodgers should have been ashamed.
Garland was terrible, in his debut tonight, after missing most of spring training with a strianed oblique muscle.
he lasted just 4 innings, allowing 5 runs off of 9 hits, and striking out only 2. he also commited his first balk of his carreer. I wont even get into the horrendouz umpiring all night.

Last night's game was disappointing to say the least. Hiroki Kuroda, was unusually shaky throwing three wild pitches. The offense was muted. Casey Blake made back-to-back craptastic plays at third base. Then there was the giving up attitude clearly displayed once Mattingly brought in Cormier to pitch. At that point we were only down by three runs, so why in the world would he basically give up? We better not have to see Cormier pitch again. In 6 innings pitched he has a 7.50 ERA, has allowed 8 hits and 7 runs including 1 HR. I'd rather have any of the following in my bullpen: Elbert, Schlichting, Troncoso, hell why not even Ely in the pen? Vicente Padilla will be throwing a bullpen session, and hopefully we will see the return of the soap bubble soon.
Jon Garland will make his first start of the season after coming off the DL after suffering a strained left oblique. The Dodgers signed Garland to a $5 million, one year contract this offseason. Garland is 1-4 with a 5.02 ERA in 5 career starts against the Cardinals. Last season, with the Padres, Garland pitched 200 innings going 14-12 with a 3.47 ERA. Jamie Hoffman, who was unimpressive in his token start last night, was optioned back to AAA. Although it was his first start in the big leagues since May 31, 2009.
Garland will face Kyle Lohse (1-1, 3.00 ERA), a right-handed pitcher for the Red Birds.
Tonight the Dodgers and MLB will honor the great Jackie Robinson on the 64th anniversary of him breaking the color barrier in baseball. The players will wear his number 42 on their jerseys, and there will be a pregame ceremony in his honor.
Andre Ethier has a 11 game hitting streak that he looks to extend. He is hitting .360, and has hit 3 hits off of 3 different lefty pitchers in the past few games.
The Dodgers and Cardinals now have identical records of 6-7. The Dodgers are now 4.5 games out of first place. The Rockies have only lost 2 games.

Dodgers lose crapfest to cardinals 9-5

this game was nothing short of craptastic. the pitching was terrible, the offense the usual, and the defense poor. im going to keep this postgame short since theres not much to talk about tonight.
Kuroda had a bad game and was out after only 5 innings. allowing 5 earned runs over 10 hits with 3 wild pitches. he was definatly not himself.
Garcia wasnt great either but the cards took advantage of all the meatballs Cormier lobed to the plate until the game was out of reach. (more on him later) garcia lasted 5 innings allowing 3 runs 2 earned with 2 walks and 2 Ks.
in the first inning the Dodgers got on the board first. Carroll led off with a single. followed by a single by ethier (yes off a lefty!) Kemp continued his assault on the national league and singled to score carroll. after a walk to uribe, loney flies out and hoffman lines out to third.
in the second inning the cardinals score two. Holliday doubles, and berkman singles him to third. after a schumaker fly ball, Kuroda wild pitches the runners advance. molina singles scoring holiday. then the rookie Descalso's fly ball scores another run. garcia grounds out to end the inning.
in the third inning with 1 out, Rasmus triples into the gap. after a pujols ground out, there is some kinf of wierd delay from the second base umpire, which might have screwed up kuroda's timing. Holiday singles past carroll at short scoring rasmus giving the red birds a 3-1 lead. berkman grounds out to end the inning.
in the bottom of the third, Kemp singles and steals second. (8th steal of the season for kemp!) Uribe breaks out of his slump a bit and doubles in Kemp. 3-2. Loney grounds out sending uribe to third. Hoffman reaches on a fielders choice, when for some god damm reason uribe tried to score from third and was thrown out by a mile. ellis grounds out to end the threat.
in the fourth inning after getting the first two outs, Kuroda was victimized by two bad plays by blake at third. and we all learned why we call him Rusty anchor. Descalso singles when blake cant come up with the grounder. next hitter the pitcher garcia grounds one to third and blake Boots this one. uggggh. our old friend senior tootblan theriot, singles into right, scoring descalso, but Garcia is thrown out by ethier trying to advance to third. 4-2

in the top of the 5th Pujols homers to left. after holliday flies out. berkman and schumaker single, and then another wild pitch scores another run. 6-3. Kuroda leaves after 5 innings and is relieved by Macdougal who pitches a scoreless 6th inning.
Mitchell Boggs came into relieve Jamie Garcia and pitched two scoreless innings.
then in the 7th, Donnie decided it was time to forfeit the game by bringing in Lance cormier. I wont even get into the carnage, but again its cormier so we all knew what to expect. Cormier allowed three runs, including committing a throwing error into center field on a perfect double play ball hit by Pujols. by the time the smoke cleared it was 9-3. when im wrong about something I always admit it. and wow was I wrong about this guy. I had said earlier in the spring that giving cormier a shot may not be so bad, I figured how much damage could he do in the few weeks until padilla returned? maaaaaan what a facepalm! watching Cormier lob up meatball after meatball was stomach churning. Im assuming (and hoping) that he should be DFAd very soon.
Broxton came in and pitched a scoreless ninth inning to get some work in and looked good.
Kemp hit a monster home run in the 9th to make it 9-5. but that was it. Ryan franklin recorded the last out.

this game was nothing short of craptastic. the pitching was terrible, the offense the usual, and the defense poor. im going to keep this postgame short since theres not much to talk about tonight.
Kuroda had a bad game and was out after only 5 innings. allowing 5 earned runs over 10 hits with 3 wild pitches. he was definatly not himself.
Garcia wasnt great either but the cards took advantage of all the meatballs Cormier lobed to the plate until the game was out of reach. (more on him later) garcia lasted 5 innings allowing 3 runs 2 earned with 2 walks and 2 Ks.
in the first inning the Dodgers got on the board first. Carroll led off with a single. followed by a single by ethier (yes off a lefty!) Kemp continued his assault on the national league and singled to score carroll. after a walk to uribe, loney flies out and hoffman lines out to third.
in the second inning the cardinals score two. Holliday doubles, and berkman singles him to third. after a schumaker fly ball, Kuroda wild pitches the runners advance. molina singles scoring holiday. then the rookie Descalso's fly ball scores another run. garcia grounds out to end the inning.
in the third inning with 1 out, Rasmus triples into the gap. after a pujols ground out, there is some kinf of wierd delay from the second base umpire, which might have screwed up kuroda's timing. Holiday singles past carroll at short scoring rasmus giving the red birds a 3-1 lead. berkman grounds out to end the inning.
in the bottom of the third, Kemp singles and steals second. (8th steal of the season for kemp!) Uribe breaks out of his slump a bit and doubles in Kemp. 3-2. Loney grounds out sending uribe to third. Hoffman reaches on a fielders choice, when for some god damm reason uribe tried to score from third and was thrown out by a mile. ellis grounds out to end the threat.

Descalso singles when blake cant come up with the grounder. next hitter the pitcher garcia grounds one to third and blake Boots this one. uggggh. our old friend senior tootblan theriot, singles into right, scoring descalso, but Garcia is thrown out by ethier trying to advance to third. 4-2

the Dodgers return home today after a long grueling cold 3-5 roadtrip. lets forget about the last two games, except the fact that Ted Lilly should be embarassed after giving up a game winning homerun to Mike Fontenot, a guy with a long history of crappyness, and failing to get a bunt down which cost the dodgers the run. although they have bigger problems than Lilly's poor performances of late.
interesting lineup tonight, Hoffman gets his first and maybe last start of the season. its likly he will be sent down tomorrow to make room for Garland on friday. and hey A.J. Ellis gets a start at cather, giving big rod a day off.
todays matchup features jamie garcia for the cardinals up agianst Kuroda for the dodgers. Kuroda has been brilliant thus far, so lets hope he can continue his roll tonight.
in other interesting news, Juan Castro was hurt in last night's Isotope game, im not sure what the injury was but apparently it was pretty serious as he was placed on the DL. thus ends our long recurring nightmares of having to worry about seeing castro called up. believe me if youve never had the Juan Castro experience, you dont want to go there.
