looks like the bullpen meltdowns are back, as the Dodger bumpen blew a three run lead in the 8th inning allowing the cubs to score 5 runs, as the Dodgers lost 10-8
Lilly looked like shit today and pitched like it too. lasting only 4.1 innings allowing 11 hits on 5 runs.
Cubs starter Ryan Dempster didnt fare any better either, getting knocked out in the 6th, allowing 7 runs off of 9 hits walking three. both pitchers were not allowed in the decision.
the Dodgers normally play very good defense, made several crappy plays, and mixed with the terrible relief pitching give away another game.
the bullshit started in the first inning. Castro singles, and tries to leg out a single into a double, but Sands makes a great throw at second to nail Castro. that play would be very important. Barney doubles on a fly ball over Kemp's head. Byrd singles barney to third. Ramirez drives him home with a sacrifice fly. Baker flies out to end inning.
in the top of the third, the Dodgers tie it. Blake walks, and advances to second on ethier's groudout. Kemp singles blake home. tie game.
in the bottom of the third, Lilly continued to lob over meatballs. with 1 out, castro doubles, when sands drops a fly ball lost in the sun. lilly wild pitches castro to third. byrd then singles scoring castro 2-1 cubs.
then with aramis ramirez batting, the cubs pull a double steal, after all big rod couldnt throw out a runner if his life depends on it. thankfully ramirez strikes out and baker pops out.
move to the 4th. soto leads off with a single, then soriano strikes out. then former dodger reed johnson doubles, scoring soto, somehow the relay throw gets away and was just rolling around, while johnson just kept running all the way to third. dempster grounds out. then castro singles johnson scores. 4-1
with barney hitting, castro was picked off of first, but the dodgers fuck this up. Loney gets in the way of the base line, and barney has to slide around loney to get back. the umps rule interference, or obstruction on loney and send barney to second. another run scores on a single from barney its now 5-1.
byrd grounds out to end the inning.
the Dodgers come back in the 5th inning, and it seems there offense is finally starting to wake up. too bad we have a collection of pathetic losers in the bullpen who cant hold leads.
Miles singles, then blake goes boom, for his second homer! its 5-3. after ethier grounds out, bison homers to center, its now 5-4.
Donnie tried to get Lilly through the 5th, but we knew that wasnt gonna happen. after a fly out, baker singles. donnie brings in Macdougal to relieve lilly. thanks ted for another lousy fucking start you pathetic bum.
Dougie proceeds to give us a heart attack and load the bases, but at least he got out of it. more than I can say for the rest of the bullpen losers. soto walks. soriano strikes out. dougie was throwing the heat, but of coarse had trouble throwing strikes. reed johnson walks.
next came one of the worst managerial decisions ive ever seen from cubs manager Mike Quade. with dempster coming up, he allowd him to bat against dougie. on a 3-2 pitch dougie gets him swingin! phew.
in the 6th, the Dodgers explode and score three runs and take the lead.
Big Rod leads off with a windy homerun to center. tie game! after carroll flies out, Gwynn batting for Macdougal triples, as the ball goes to the wall. after miles gorunds out, blake walks, and up comes ethier.
with his hitting streak on the line, ethier makes all the people who say he cant hit lefties look follish as he doubles off of Marshall. driving in both runs, extending his hitting streak to a MLB best 20 games, and the dodgers take the lead 7-5!
Ethier has now tied the longest hitting streak to start a season, and needs just two more games, to tie the longest hit streak in april for a dodger, which is 22 by garciaparra back in 2006.
yes it appeared today was going to be a good DRE.
but then we all remembered the dodger bullpen existed.
lets leave out vicente padilla though, he made his season debut, and pitched a scoreless inning in the 6th. but I guess donnie didnt want to overwork him, and decided to turn the game over to the rest of the losers.
the Dodgers picked up another run, but should have picked up alot more, as a mealy three run lead is nothing for the dodger bumpen. they blow three run leads faster than you can say 'whistling dixie'.
sands singles, steals second, and comes around to score on a Carroll fielders choice
Guerrier pitched a 123 7th inning. but then blew up, in a god awful 8th inning. I couldnt believe this, after a 123 inning in the 7th, Guerrier takes a crap all over himself, and hawksworth couldnt clean it up.
let the hit parade begin! soriano singles, reed johnson reaches base on a bunt single that blake couldnt field. fukudome walks to load the bases. there are no outs. after a useless honeycutt coaching visit, castro singles to drive in two its now 8-7. barney grounds into a force out, another run scores its tied.
byrd strikes out. two outs. but ramirez singles barney goes to third. hawksworth in to replace Guerrier. jeff Baker doubles in two more its 10-8.
I dont think I need to explain the rest. Marmol pitches the 9th, blah blah blah dodgers lose, of coarse.
just when the offense finally starts to come around, the bullpen completly meltsdown again. im very aggravated and done for today. I dont know what the dodgers are going to do. the bullpen has allowed like 800 runs this week going back to the st. louis series. Kuo is hurt, broxton is in decline, and the entire bullpen is right handed. not sure what the Dodgers are going to do, but they better have a backup plan.
Kuroda vs Zambrano tomorrow afternoon. if kuroda goes 9 we have a chance. GO BLUE

Aaron Miles? why? why oh why???? and why sit Uribe when hes finally gotten hot? hes hit two home runs in the last two games, and has had like 6 hits? but he rests today. Big Rod is back in the lineup, Sandman bats behind Kemp.
apprently according to various sources, former braves executive Stan Kasten, appears to be the front runner, to land the MLB appointed trustee position, to oversee the Dodgers. as you know MLB and the Commissioner's office have taken over the Dodgers finances, and all day-day operations of the club. Frank Mccourt is acused of general shady practices, after not only asking FOX for 200 million dollars in advanced revenue, but also asking for a direct loan to cover payroll. Dodgers GM Ned Colletti has said that he still reports to Mccourt but also that he still has authority over all roster moves. we will keep you updated on this story as it progresses.
back to the game today. Ted Lilly will make his first wrigly start of the year, up against Ryan Dempster. the two were close frinds when they were playing together at wrigley. Lilly called Dempster his "brother from another mother" the two were close as Lilly helped Dempster through a tough time as his daughter has been ill with a rare illness. Dempster in his only start against the Dodgers last year pitched 7 shutout innings.
Andre Ethier is about as hot as any hitter in baseball right now. after going 1 for 2 yesterday, ethier now has a MLB best 19 game hitting streak. one more will tie Steve Garvey's 20 gamer back in april of 78 for the longest april streak in Dodgers history. the only other Dodger to have a 20 game hitting streak in april was normar garciaparra who hit in 22 in a row back in april of 2006

Rain & Seagull Delays Don't Faze Dodgers

On a cold afternoon, the Dodgers pick up their third win in a row with plenty of offense and a nice pitching performance by Chad Billingsley.
The first two innings were pretty routine, but the flurry of Dodger offense came in the third inning off Coleman. Carroll doubles, Blaker singles him over to third, and then Ethier singles to center extending his Major League leading streak to 19 games and scoring Carroll on the play making it 1-0 Dodgers. Uribe, busting out of his slump, singles into center allowing Blake to score and giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. Loney walks loading the bases up. Jerry Sands walks with the bases loaded bringing in Ethier, 3-0. A.J. Ellis continues the base hit party, and he singles in both Uribe and Loney giving the Dodgers another two runs, 5-0. Chad Billingsley doesn't want to feel left out, and he promptly singles into left field scoring Sands and giving the Dodgers a commanding 6-0 lead. Yes, they were all singles and walks, but at least they were singles with men on base.
Coleman only goes 2.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 6 runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
In the top of the fourth inning Matt Kemp walks, and Uribe homers to left field adding another two runs to the Dodgers lead, 8-0. In the bottom of the inning, the Cubs finally get a hit off Billingsley when Ramirez singles. Pena walks, and Ramirez goes to third on a force out by Byrd. While Soriano is at the plate, Ellis allows a passed ball and Ramirez scores, 8-1.
In the fifth inning, Ellis for some ridiculous reason decides to try to steal second base after walking in a 8-1 game. Well, he is out by a mile. I stress the fact that neither Ellis nor Big Rod have any reason to attempt to steal a base under most conditions. In the bottom of the inning Carroll commits an error when he can't handle Darwin Barney's (wow what a bad name) ball.
In the sixth, the Dodgers get three walks in a row to Blake, Ethier, and Kemp to load the bases. Blake scores on a sac fly by Uribe, 9-1. In the bottom of the inning Marlon Byrd triples to left field. Sands has a little trouble fielding the ball when it rolls all the way into the corner by the ivy. Tis ok, it's his first time playing in Wrigley Field.
In the bottom of the 7th, Billingsley gets into a little trouble. Blake Dewitt, former Dodger now trying to channel some beard power, singles. Fukodome singles. Barney singles allowing Dewitt to score, 9-2. Honeycutt visits the mound to talk to Bills. Castro singles, and Bills trips over him while he's trying to cover first base. Kenley Jansen then comes in to take over and gets the last two outs to end the inning.
Billingsley goes 6.1 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts.
Jansen strikes out the side in the 8th. He's looking better than in his previous games.
The Dodgers are not done scoring yet, folks! In the 9th, Marcos Mateo comes in to pitch for the Cubbies. Loney uncharacteristically singles, but Sands grounds into a double play. Ellis comes up with his second single. Marcus Thames then proceeds to come in to pinch hit and crushes a 2 run homer giving the Dodgers an astonishing 11-2 lead. More singles ensue with Carroll and Blake both hitting another. Tony Gwynn Jr. feels left out, and singles in Carroll making it 12-2.
Frighteningly Lance Cormier is called in to pitch the bottom of the ninth. Is a 10 run lead against the Cubs enough for Cormier not to blow it? He gets DeWitt to ground out, gives up a single to Fukodome, strikes out Barney, but then Castro reaches on a Blake brain fart error. Cormier manages to get the last out without allowing a run.
Let's hope the Dodgers have saved a few signature singles for tomorrow's game. Carroll, Blake, Uribe, and Ellis all had 2 hit games. The Dodgers now are 1 game over .500. Ted Lilly will go up against Ryan Dempster in an early 10:05 morning game tomorrow.

Bison, Blake, Dodgers jitterbug past braves in extras!

wow, all I have to say is wow! this was one hell of a game. after Kershaw couldnt get the last out in the 9th, the Dodgers come from behind in the 9th to tie, and win it in the 12th on another walk off home run by Kemp!
on throwback day, The Dodgers and Braves wearing there 1940's Unis. there was a 40's feel at the Ravine. as swing music played over the PA, vinny was enjoying the tunes from his era.
so in theme lets get to the highlights 40's style!
it was an early pitching duel between young Jurrjens and Kershaw.
the Dodgers threatened in the first, Gwynn leads off with a single, steals second after blake strikes out, the ethier walks, Kemp strikes out, Uribe walks to load the bases, but of coarse Loney strikes out. shucks!
in the bottom of the 3rd, the Dodgers threatened again, but came away with nothing. Blake line drive singles to right. ethier singles on a liner that was deflected by freeman at first, but bounced away into foul territory. Blake Bebops his way over to third, and ethier has extended his hitting streak to 18 games! tops in the majors! Kemp flies out, and ethier is caught stealing second on what looked like a busted hit and run play. Uribe flies out to end inning. dag nabbit!
kershaw Picks off Alex Gonzalez in the 4th. neat!
in the top of the 5th with 1 out, Freeman homers putting the braves up 1-0. gee whilakers!
move to the bottom of the 6th, Uribe shows us why he is the bees knees, by homering to deep left, for his first as a dodger. tied at 1. (I had a very wierd premonition he would homer)
bottom of the 7th, Dr. Meatball himself is brought in to pitch to kershaw, and gets him to ground out. Jurrjens was very good pitching 6 strong innings allowing 1 run off 7 hits with 2 walks and 6 Ks.
Linebrink comes in to relieve Sherrill. with 2 outs, Casey Blake shows us why hes peachy Keen by homering to left. giving the Dodgers a 2-1 lead!

to the top of the 9th we go, with Broxton warming in the Pen, Donnie decides to let Kershaw finish his game. the Dodgers hadnt had back to back complete games since 1998, when Perez and Chan ho Park did it.
Prado flies out, and gonzalez pops out. with 2 outs, it looked certain kershaw would seal the deal. but the braves came back and some Gobbldy gook commenced.
Jones singles. next uggla singles to left, Sands makes the throw to third, and the relay throw to second is just a tad late. next freeman walks to load the bases.
with 2 outs two frickin outs, Mattingly makes a visit to the mound. kershaw assures him he is ok, so Mattingly leaves him in to finish the game. I had mixed feelings about this. Kersh was very tired, but then again the Dodgers bullpen especially Brox has been up and down. I coulld definatly understand this decision, although im sure it will be second guessed. with two strikes on him, former Dodgers David Ross, singles through the hole at shortstop, scoring both heyward and uggla, and the braves take a shocking lead. those darn creeps!
broxton is brought in and strikes out Mcclouth for the third out. Kershaw was visibly upset in the dugout. he made 122 pitches. still a terrific outing for Kershaw, Donnie probably should have brought in Broxton, after all that is why you have a bullpen, Kershaw cant do it all.
I thought for sure we were dead in the water, but the Dodgers fought back off of Braves closer Craig Kimbrel.
Carroll walks to lead off. Miles batting in the 9th spot after a double switch, cant bunt Carroll over, and like the useless piece of shit that he is, fouls out. Kimbrel wild pitches and Carroll advances to second. Sands who had entered the game earlier, strikes out swinging. we were down to our last out. up comes Blake, who had a great game. with the count 0-2 blake singles through the hole at short, scoring Carroll, as the Dodgers tie it up by the skin of their teeth! (blake gets a reprieve for life after this game!) Carroll lindys in the tying run, and we play on. ethier grounds out as the game heads into extra frames.
Brox pitched the 10th, and Guerrier came in to pitch the 11th and 12th. Kimbrel stayed into to pitch the 10th, and Cristhian Martinez pitched the 11th and 12th for the Braves.
in the 11th the braves threatened with back to back singles from Freeman and Uggla, but Guerrier gets Mcclouth to strike out.
in the bottom of the 11th, Big Rod is hit by a pitch. he is then pinch ran for by Dejesus. Carroll sacrifices Dejesus over to second. Miles hits a low sinking liner to shallow left field. but Matt Young shows us what a fuddy-duddy he is by making a sliding diving catch.
in the bottom of the 12th, with Martinez still pitching, we were getting worried. after all the Dodgers had a plane to catch right after the game, and the deeper the game goes, the deeper into the backend of the bullpen it gets, and the sketchier it gets.
thank goodness Matt Kemp had enough and decided he wanted to get on that plane. after blake grounds out, Ethier doubles to the wall in the right field corner.
with uribe on deck, the braves foolishly decided to pitch to Kemp. its laughable at this point because Kemp really made the braves look stupid. Kemp crushes and I mean crushes a home run to center field, and thats that! the Dodgers win 5-3 in 12 innings. Kemp who had gone 0 for 4 up until that point, Jitterbugged all the way around to greet his teammates at the plate as they celebrated. remember this is coming off of his walk-off on sunday. so kemp hits his second walk-off homerun of the homestand, and the Dodgers will hop on a plane and Zuit suit there way into a frigid chicago.
in other good news, Troncsucko was optioned back down to AAA to make room on the roster for Vicente Padilla who will join the team in chicago tomorrow.
the Dodgers open up a six game roadtrip with three in wrigly field. tomorrows game time at 1120 AM, bills vs. coleman on PT. see ya tomorrow Dodger fans!

broxton is brought in and strikes out Mcclouth for the third out. Kershaw was visibly upset in the dugout. he made 122 pitches. still a terrific outing for Kershaw, Donnie probably should have brought in Broxton, after all that is why you have a bullpen, Kershaw cant do it all.
I thought for sure we were dead in the water, but the Dodgers fought back off of Braves closer Craig Kimbrel.
Carroll walks to lead off. Miles batting in the 9th spot after a double switch, cant bunt Carroll over, and like the useless piece of shit that he is, fouls out. Kimbrel wild pitches and Carroll advances to second. Sands who had entered the game earlier, strikes out swinging. we were down to our last out. up comes Blake, who had a great game. with the count 0-2 blake singles through the hole at short, scoring Carroll, as the Dodgers tie it up by the skin of their teeth! (blake gets a reprieve for life after this game!) Carroll lindys in the tying run, and we play on. ethier grounds out as the game heads into extra frames.
Brox pitched the 10th, and Guerrier came in to pitch the 11th and 12th. Kimbrel stayed into to pitch the 10th, and Cristhian Martinez pitched the 11th and 12th for the Braves.
in the 11th the braves threatened with back to back singles from Freeman and Uggla, but Guerrier gets Mcclouth to strike out.
in the bottom of the 11th, Big Rod is hit by a pitch. he is then pinch ran for by Dejesus. Carroll sacrifices Dejesus over to second. Miles hits a low sinking liner to shallow left field. but Matt Young shows us what a fuddy-duddy he is by making a sliding diving catch.
in the bottom of the 12th, with Martinez still pitching, we were getting worried. after all the Dodgers had a plane to catch right after the game, and the deeper the game goes, the deeper into the backend of the bullpen it gets, and the sketchier it gets.
thank goodness Matt Kemp had enough and decided he wanted to get on that plane. after blake grounds out, Ethier doubles to the wall in the right field corner.
with uribe on deck, the braves foolishly decided to pitch to Kemp. its laughable at this point because Kemp really made the braves look stupid. Kemp crushes and I mean crushes a home run to center field, and thats that! the Dodgers win 5-3 in 12 innings. Kemp who had gone 0 for 4 up until that point, Jitterbugged all the way around to greet his teammates at the plate as they celebrated. remember this is coming off of his walk-off on sunday. so kemp hits his second walk-off homerun of the homestand, and the Dodgers will hop on a plane and Zuit suit there way into a frigid chicago.
in other good news, Troncsucko was optioned back down to AAA to make room on the roster for Vicente Padilla who will join the team in chicago tomorrow.
the Dodgers open up a six game roadtrip with three in wrigly field. tomorrows game time at 1120 AM, bills vs. coleman on PT. see ya tomorrow Dodger fans!

The Dodgers will be wearing their throwback Uniforms during turn back the clock, and getaway day for the Dodgers. Youngster Jair Jurrjens, fresh off of a win against the mets, will take the mound for Atlanta, the Dodgers will counter with Clayton Kershaw, who has always pitched well against the Braves. Kershaw has held atlanta to a .146 average over 13.2 innings. so lets hope this trend continues.
the Dodgers need a win to not only win 3 out of 4 from atlanta, but to split the 8 game homestand, before heading out to chicago and florida. so lets end the homestand on a good not, shall we boys?
last night was a very good game, and lets take a moment to talk about Andre Ethier who is off to another fanstastic start. ethier with a career high and MLB best 17 game hitting streak this year, looks to extend it against Atlanta. Ethier also hit his 100th career homerun last night, and was 3 for 4 missing the cycle by only a triple.
we should also recognize and give props to Jon Garland, who pitched a magnificent game. Garland went all the way pitching a complete game 4 hitter. the notorious innings eater in his second stint with the Dodgers missed significant time during spring training, plus his first scheduled start because of a strianed oblique muscle. he looked back in form last night, way to go Jon!
of coarse the huge news is the one still playing out, MLB and the Commissioners office has taken over day to day operations of the Dodgers and has taken Frank Mccourt out of office. this is not as big of a deal as some people are making it. as reported yesterday, Frank Mccourt had taken out a personal loan from FOX, asking the cable giant to loan him 30 million dollars to meet payroll, plus another 200 million in an advance. depsite Selig's protests, Mccourt did it anyways, pissing off Selig something awful.
Selig will be appointing a rep to oversee the Dodgers and the announcement should come within the next few days. the appointee will act as Chairman, until the Dodgers are most likly put back up for sale. the appointee will have final say over all trades, signings, roster moves, and day to day operations. this is not a big deal, and a happy day for Dodger fans. most of us have all hated the Mccourts for some time, and this is the first step in removing this scumbag from power. most likly MLB will run the team through the season, and then will put the team up for sale, and hopefully we will have a new better owner come next year. we will keep you informed on this as more news breaks.

Jon Garland Breezes Through 9

Even though Derek Lowe pitched in familiar territory Wednesday evening at Dodger Stadium, it was Jon Garland's night as he had a 108 pitch complete game to give the Dodgers their second win of the series and a birthday present for Don Mattingly who turned the big 50 today.
Lowe's worries came early when the Dodgers started off strong, maybe in frustration from last night's debacle. Casey Blake singled in the first inning, followed by a ground rule double by Andre Ethier. He extends his hitting streak to 17 games, a career high. Uribe, who amazingly had a good night, singled in Blake and Ethier giving the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. Loney also singled in the inning.
In the second, unnaturally beefed up Uggla got a lead off walk only to be cut down by Big Rod in an attempt to steal second. More hitting ensued in the bottom half of the second, as Lowe attempted to quickly pitch. Garland draws a key walk, Blake singles Garland to third, Ethier singles in Garland making it 3-0 Dodgers. Kemp singles to load the bases when he beats out Gonzalez's throw. Uribe then gets his second single of the night to bring in both Blake and Ethier and the Dodgers are up 5-0. Kemp gets a little greedy, and his thrown out trying to steal 3rd.
The Braves would score their only run in the third inning when McLouth leads off with a double, Lowe bunts him to third, and then scores on Prado's sac fly making it 5-1.
Garland has a 1-2-3 inning in the fourth. Lowe is out of the game by the fourth inning, and Cristhian Martinez comes in to pitch the 4th.
Lowe goes 3 innings, allowing 9 hits, 5 runs, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts.
Andre Ethier comes up and wallops a solo hr making it 6-1 Dodgers. This is Andre's 100th career homerun and third hit of the night. He only was shy a triple to hit for the cycle.
Garland cruises through the next few innings. Going 1-2-3 in the 6th, and striking out Heyward three times during the night. Heyward is now 0-13 in the series. In the 8th Uribe gets his third single of the night as well. Donnie lets Garland finish off what he started, and he goes 1-2-3 in the 9th to shut down the Braves and get the complete game. Thank the lord we didn't have to see any of the bullpen tonight.

A remarkable turnaround game! Last night was the worst of the worst, and tonight we see awesome starting pitching, Ethier's hitting streak continue along with his 100th career HR AND him nearly hit for the cycle, Big Rod throws out a runner, and Uribe has 3 hits and 4, yes I said 4, RBIs bumping up his average to over .200!
Tomorrow afternoon Clayton Kershaw will go for the series win. With McCourt out, maybe some winning will come in! Good night Dodger fans:)
