Another agonzing loss flushes the season further down the toilet. the Dodgers lost to the white sox 8-3, and are on their way to Houtson for a three game series, and then head home. you can almost here the flushing sound........

the Dodgers lost two more players to injuries, I feel like were stuck in an episode of Mash, there dropping like flies out there.

Kuroda had a terrible start, as he matched up against Ediwn Jackson.

the WhiteSox begun early, as Juan Pierre annoyingly singles to lead off the game. then Alexi Ramirez hits a two run bomb to left. after Dunn strikes out, and Konerko flies out, Pierzynski homers to right. its 3-0 Chicago. #%#&@!!!!

in the top of the second, Loney singles, but is picked off of first base on a big rod pop up to shallow right field. honestly I dont know where the hell Loney thought he was going. oh you better believe thats a TOOTBLAN.

the Whitesox score another run in the second inning. Backham singles and Ramirez doubles him home. 4-0.

move along to the fourth inning, where Ethier and big rod are both injured and have to come out of the game.
with 1 out, Beckham is safe on a furcal throwing error. the annoying flying gnat, Juan Pierre, hits a long drive to right, that sends Dre crashing into the wall, Beckham goes to third. Ethier stays in the game, but is clearly wincing in pain after the play. next up, Ramirez hits a pop fly single into shallow right field, ethier came in but was seen hobbling. Mattingly orders Gwynn into the game to replace him. Xrays after the game revealed negative, but Ethier got the trifecta on that play, left elbow contusion, big toe sprain, and lower back contustion.

Beckham scores on the play, Pierre to third. Dunn the ogre walks. Konerko hits a sac fly to center. Kemp's throw to the plate was strong, but Big Rod just doesnt know how to block the plate correctly. Big Rod is way too far behind the plate, and Pierre is in safe sliding, as he kicks Big Rod in the facemask. Big Rod leaves the game, and his xrays are negative. although we learn his injury is to his wrist. he is also listed as day to day. the completly attrocious Navarro takes over at catcher.

the score is 6-0 we move to the top of the 6th. Loney leads off with a double. loser navarro grounds out. Loney moves to third on a wild pitch from Jackson. Loney scores on a gibbons groundout. 6-1
Sands singles, steals second, Mitchell walks, but Furcal strikes out.

Kuroda makes it through the 5th, and we move on to the 6th inning. Carroll singles, but is out at second on a fielder's choice grounder by gwynn. Gywnn takes second on an errant pick off throw. the White Sox had three errors in the game.
Kemp strikes out Loney walks. Chris Sales is brought in to relieve Jackson. Jackson goes 5.2 allowing 1 run on 5 hits 2 walks and 7 strikeouts.
Kuroda goes 5.2 allowing 6 runs 4 earned on 9 hits, 2 wlkas and 3 strikeouts.
Navarro strikes out to end the inning.

Elbert relieves Kuroda in the 6th inning, and walks Dunn, but gets Konerko to pop up.

the Dodgers rally in the 7th inning. Gibbons doubles. (apparently he can only see in the fog, he must have had his eyes closed on that hit) Sands singles, sending Gibbons to third. Mitchell walks to load the bases. we all know how the Dodgers do with the bases loaded dont we? yep epic failures.
Jesse Crain fireballer, relieves Sale. he strikes out Hit Machine. Carroll then walks, forcing in a run. 6-2. tony Gywnn grounds into a fielders choice to score another run. 6-3. Gwynn then steals second, but Kemp grounds out.

Guerra relieves Elbert in the 7th and gets through the inning.

Matt Thorton retires the Dodgers in order in the top of the 8th inning.
Javy Guerra allows two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning. Beckham is hit by a pitch, and sacrificed to second. Ramirez doubles, ( he was 7 for 9 over the last two games of the series) Dunn singles, its 8-3. Tronscucko, comes into replace Guerra and gets Pierzynski to ground into a double play, to get out of the inning.

Thorton stays in to finish things in the 9th and does. Sands does get his fourth hit of the game a double, hes really starting to heat up. he was 4 for 4 today. otherwise, Thorton picks up a save, as the White Sox beat the Dodgers 8-3.

this team is going to give me a heart attack. no wonder my blood pressure is so high latly. these games are going to drive me to drink, im so aggravated. just when we get back Furcal, Uribe goes down again, then Dre and Big Rod are injured. thank god Dre is listed as day- to-day. but expect Ellis to get called up again, unless Big Rod's wrist isnt hurt as bad as we think. still expect a couple of moves tomorrow. so who from the Isotopes is on the 40 man roster? well Ellis is of coarse, then for outfielders, Jamie Hoffman, and trayvon Robinson, and the only infielder is Dejesus.

its not looking like it matters much, this season is going down the toilet. the Dodgers are now 21-27 in fourth place. every day we keep falling back further in the standings. it doesnt look like its going to get better anytime soon. its time to start selling. I dont want to say the season is over in may, but......all im going to say is there is no shame in rebuilding. better to do it now, so we can begin preparing for the future as soon as possible.

tomorrow is a good matchup, Kershaw vs. Norris at the Juice box. a 505 PM start time. well see you then Dodger fans. go blue

the Dodgers finally get their sparkplug back. Rafael Furcal (Hit Machine) returns to the Dodger lineup today, as Uribe is placed on the DL with that hip flexor injury.
The Dodgers have been without Furcal for way too long now. Hit machine has been the heart and soul of the Dodger lineup. weve been desperatly missing him. for today, Carroll slides over to second, and Russ "hail Mary" Mitchell gets the start at third, a reward for his heroic hail mary home run on friday night, during the Dodgers 6-4 win. Jay Gibbons will be handling the DH duties today.

Kuroda takes the mound for the Dodgers, hes been on fire latly, he will counter, former Dodger Edwin Jackson. yes he is the same pitcher who pitched a no hitter last year for Arizona.

in other very sad news, former Dodger catcher Gary Carter has  a brain tumor, according to various reports. Carter played for the Dodgers in 1991, and played in the MLB for 18 seasons.  we wish him the very best and for a speedy recovery.

after todays game the Dodgers will fly to minute maid park, to play Houston for three games, before coming back home. game time at 1110AM.

Seriosuly I joke, but were slowly decending into a nightmare here, and the team is beginning to resemble a pacific coast league team. more players continue to go down with injuries. Uribe after an MRI, is supposed to be placed on the disabled list. Aaron Miles is still hurt with a strained rib cage. the Dodgers are running out of players.

it was no shock today that they lost to the White Sox 9-2. Jon Garland really stunk up the place, with his worst outing of the year. he allowed 7 runs in 3.2 innings, and was unable to get out of the fourth inning, against former teammate Mark Buehrle.

it was a tie game until that awful fourth inning.  the Dodgers threatened int he first, but of coarse failed to score.  Castro and Kemp both single. (yes castro!) but big rod leaves them stranded by lining out.

the white sox score first in the bottom of the first. with 1 out, Alexi Ramirez doubles to left, Ogre strikes out (Adam Dunn struck out four times today!), Konerko who had 3 hits, singles in ramirez. Pierzynski singles konerko to third, then Rios grounds out to second.

both pitchers have scoreless second innings. the bottom of the second is highlighted by Beckham lining into a double play at first.

the Dodgers have a buntfest in the third inning, and pick up a run to tie the game. Carroll bunts up along third and reaches safly. Castro then comes up and bunts, unfortunatly for chicago, no one is covering the bag at first, and Castro is safe. Ethier's groundball moves the runners to second and third. Kemp's groundball scores Carroll tie game 1-1

the fourth inning is where Garland chokes, as the whitesox score 6 runs. Konerko leads off with a single, Pierzynski follows with a single, but Jerry Sands throws out Konerko trying to advance to third. nice gun kid! that play would be important, as the next batter Rios homers to deep left. 3-1 Chicago
then the floodgates open and Garland is left in to decompose. Vizquel singles, Lillibridge is hit by a pitch, Beckham singles. everyones safe, bases loaded. the carnage continued. Pierre lines out. then a Ramirez single plates VIzquel and Lillibridge. its 5-1. it doesnt stop there. he walks Dunn. Mattingly finally brings a hook for Garland. suprising he was so bad today, considering he used to pitch at cellular field. Troncsucko is brought in, he promptly is greeted by a Konerko single, scoring two more 7-1. the inning mercifully comes to an end when Pierzynski grounds out.

both teams go down 123 in the 5th inning. suprisingly Troncsucko is still in.

top of the 6th inning, off of Buehrle Sands hits his first big league home run finally. 7-2. but its the lone murmor of protest for the depleted Dodgers.

in the bottom of the 7th, Mattingly again throws in the towel, officially forfeiting by bringing in the worst pitcher in all of baseball...Lance Cormier. Cormier immediatly gives up a double to Pierzynski, then a two run homerun to Lillibridge. ughhh 9-2 now. seriously can we please DFA this guy? at this point its just torture having to watch this loser pitch.

Pena releives Buehrle who is now the all time winning pitcher in interleague games, with a 24-6 record. he allows 2 runs in 7 innings. Pena allows only a walk to ethier.

shockingly Cormier pitches a scoreless 8th inning, only allowing a double to Ramirez, who was left stranded.

Pena pitches the 9th inning, allowing just a Sands walk, before retiring the side. 9-2 final.ugghhhh
there would be no miracle comeback today folks. nothing further to see here, just a depleted team falling further in the standings. very sad at this point.

the Dodgers are running out of players here. Furcal is supposed to be back either tomorrow or monday, but the Dodgers might be in some serious trouble once there back playing with NL rules, and they need a pinch hitter late in the game. we cant keep playing three players short on the bench. are you listening Donnie!? Casey Blake is also expected back sometime on the next homestand.

Didnt see that one coming now did you? Im talking of coarse about last night's miracle win at the last minute. it was the 9th inning with 2 outs, in the mystic fog, the Dodgers trailing 3-2. no one on base. the whitesox closer on the mound coming off of 20 scoreless innings. it looked like another depressing loss. all seemed hopeless. until..............remember those guardian angels that were at the last couple of games? sure the dodgers still lost those games, but it wasnt becase of the guardians. not even divine intervention, can get Lance Cormier through a scoreless inning.

with 2 outs and a 2-1 count to Russ Mitchell. the guardians came to the rescue, to protect the Boys in Blue, preventing a continuing spiral into hell, and saving thousands of Dodger fans from commiting Harey Carey.

in the tenth inning, we had conescutive hits from Juan Castro! Loney(double), and Gibbons, as the Dodgers scored 3 runs on their way to a 6-4 win. the guardians swooped in again to protect the Boys in Blue, as Juan Castro's run scoring single, falls just over Konerko's head down the line to score the go ahead run. Mattingly definatly reprieved himself, by correctly playing the matchups in the bottom of the 10th, by giving Guerrier the hook, using Elbert to retire the Ogre, and bringing in Dougie for the last out retiring Konerko on a groundball. Mitchell also made a terrific diving stop in that 10th inning, sealing the win for the Dodgers. they finally have something they havent had for quite a while. Momentum.    also equally as amazing, the Dodgers beating an american league team on the road.

the Dodgers look for more second helpings in the second game of the series. however their walking wounded got a little bigger. add Juan Uribe to this list, with a strained hip flexor. (what the hell is a flexor?) were still not sure of the extent of his injury, but for now he is not in the lineup, and day to day.

Jon Garland will match up against his old teammate, Mark Buehrle, on the mound today. Garland, Uribe and Buehrle were all teammates with the whitesox, during their world series championship year of 2005. Garland won 18 games for the whitesox, and Uribe recorded the final out of the world series. Both players were honered before last nights game in a special ceremony.

Garland is looking for his 6th straight quality start, and Buehrle is tied for the most interleague wins with 23. the Dodgers will need to watch out for Ogre, as he is hitting .417 off Garland, with 2 homeruns, also note Alex Rios is hitting .294 off garland in his career.
Ethier takes over DH duties today.

In a foggy, dream-like moment, on our last out of the game, Russ Mitchell, who has gotten 1 other hit all season, manages to hit a solo homerun just barely fair to tie the game in the 9th inning. We will get to the other miracles that occurred tonight in a bit. Most of the game was of the usual Dodger type, with little offense and a weak showing from Ted Lilly.

The Dodgers started off the game with a Carroll double, and then the Bison came up and crushed a 2-run homerun, his 10th of the season, giving the Dodgers the early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Lilly has a good 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 1st.

Lilly starts to unravel in the 2nd inning, and our brief lead is washed away when with two outs, Rios doubles, Castro's ground-rule double scores Rios making it 2-1. Then Beckham retaliates after watching Kemp's no doubt abouter and hits a 2-run homerun giving the Sox the 3-2 lead. Lilly dishes up two more singles to Morel and Pierre before finally striking out Ramirez to end the misery.

The Dodgers waste a chance in the third when Carroll singles off of Konerko's arm, Ethier singles, Kemp flies out and Carroll takes third, then Uribe grounds out to end the threat. In the bottom of the inning Quentin gets a 2 out double, and Uribe dives to make a great catch on Rios' flare.

Both pitchers swap 1-2-3 fourth, fifth, and seventh innings respectively.

Lilly and Humber both have similar lines, and both are not involved in the decision.

Humber goes 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts.

Lilly also goes 7 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, 0 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

In the 8th, we see the usual incompetence by the Dodgers with a bases loaded situation. Thornton comes into relieve Humber, and Sands walks to lead off the inning. Carroll gets a ground-rule double, and Sands goes to third. Ethier strikes out. They intentionally walk Kemp to load the bases up, then they bring in Crain from the bullpen. Castro replaces Uribe who comes out of the game with a strained left hip flexor. I'm not sure if Uribe hurt himself on that diving play he made earlier in the third inning. Aaron Miles was out of the lineup again today due to a strained rib cage. Castro predictably strikes out and Loney follows with his signature groundball to end the inning and strand all three baserunners. Jansen comes into the game in the bottom of the 8th and strikes out Ramirez getting a 1-2-3 inning.

In the 9th, the Sox bring in Santos who begins by striking out the worthless Navarro who does not contribute anything this game other than an intentional walk. Then things start to get foggy. Our usually scheduled programming is changed to a never before seen magical channel. With 2 outs in the top of the 9th, we all get ready to turn off our televisions in disgust for the Dodgers have lost yet another one. Then a parting of the waters miracle occurs...Russ Mitchell hits a solo homerun down the left field line, and somehow, someway it stays fair!! The angels must have nudged it over just that extra bit. Tied game. 3-3.

Jansen stays into pitch the bottom of the 9th and Pierzynski gets a pinch-hit single which lands in front of Sands who is playing center field for the first time in his life in the majors. Let's try not to go that route again for awhile. Jansen strikes out Beckham in a blaze of glory to send the game to extra innings! Jansen pitches 2 scoreless innings, only allowing 1 hit and striking out 2. Now why was it Jansen was unavailable to pitch in back-to-back games the other night? Nonsense.

The 10th inning is almost surreal  as Carroll leads of with a single, his 4th hit of the evening. Kemp then singles, then I can't believe I'm writing this...Juan Castro singles in Carroll to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead. Kemp takes third on the play. Then the magic continues as Loney doubles, yes you read that right, in Kemp, 5-3 Dodgers. Castro takes third on the play. But wait there's more! For some unexplainable but downright funny reason the White Sox walk Dioner Navarro to load the bases. They take out Santos who I guess had been learning the way of the bullpen meltdown from Broxton in afterhour sessions, and bring in Ohman, the former Dodger. Gibbons, who apparently has no trouble seeing with his contacts in the beautiful fog, singles in Castro, 6-3 Dodgers! Mitchell hits into a double play to finally end the comeback rally, but tis ok Russ:)

Kenley Jansen Gets His Much Deserved First Win of the Season

Then things looks like they may go to the wayside as Donnie brings in Matt Guerrier to pitch the bottom of the 10th. Remember, no lead is comfortable when you have a bullpen like we do. Omar Vizquel (he's still playing?) leads off with a single and Juan Pierre follows with another single. Honeycutt goes out to the mound, and we all sigh in recognition of the impending meltdown. Ramirez hits a grounder to Mitchell at third, who makes an excellent play to get him out at first. Donnie thankfully gets the hook, and brings in Elbert to pitch to Ogre. Ogre grounds out, allowing Vizquel to score, 6-4. MacDougal comes in to attempt to get the last out and gets Konerko to ground out!

A real-life Dodger come from behind win! Oh boy did we need that! If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it by the box score! Jansen most certainly deserves that win over Lilly. Dougie gets his first save of the year as well. Remember, this is only our second win ever at U.S. Cellular Field.

I'm still on cloud 9 after that one Dodger fans! Early game tomorrow at 11:10. Garland returns to play on familiar turf for game 2. Go Blue:)

Interleague Play Opens in Chicago

The Dodgers are 103-121 in Interleague Play

After another frustrating loss last night, the Dodgers are now mired in fourth place barely ahead of San Diego. Times like these I almost miss the days of mediocrity when they were at .500. So after the horrible homestand, the Dodgers got on a plane late last night to start a road trip which includes three games at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago and three games in Houston.

I've never been a fan of Interleague play. Maybe I'm old skool, but I like the separateness of the leagues. I like when the two leagues didn't meet during the regular season except for the All-Star game and then ultimately the World Series. The main difference between leagues of course is the use of the designated hitter. In the American League, the pitcher does not bat, but instead a designated hitter bats in his place. Since we are playing in an American League Stadium, American League rules apply so the Dodgers will have to use a DH. I don't really like the DH either. I feel like all the players, including the pitcher, should go up to bat. So with the DH, the American League usually scores more runs than the National League. The Dodgers usually don't fare well in Interleague play.

Ted Lilly (3-4, 4.83) will go up against Phillip Humber (3-3, 3.18) in his first Interleague game. Last season when Lilly was a Cub, he had a no-hitter going against the cross-town rival White Sox, and our old friend Juan Pierre broke it up in the 9th inning with a pinch-hit single. Lilly is 6-2 with a 5.16 ERA vs. the White Sox in 11 career starts. The White Sox have won 9 of 12 games played against the Dodgers, and the Dodgers have only mustered one victory in U.S. Cellular Field.

In pre-game ceremonies Jon Garland and Juan Uribe will be honored for their role in the White Sox's 2005 World Championship. Garland played eight years in the south side of Chicago and had a 92-81 record with the White Sox.

The lineup looks a little different today since the DH will be used for the first time this season. Gwynn is starting in left field and batting lead off. Kemp will be the designated hitter. Gibbons will be playing in left field. Russ Mitchell will be playing third, and Navarro annoyingly gets a start behind the plate. Big Rod has been due for his weekly homer, so this is disappointing. Looks like we will not be graced with Aaron Miles' presence for the second day in a row. I think he is sore, which obviously is apparent in his fielding of late.

Remember, the White Sox have Ogre (Adam Dunn) as their DH so we will be on the look out for him. They also have the pesky Juan Pierre, who is their leadoff guy now so Lilly will have to watch for him running. With Navarro behind the plate, there's almost a guaranteed flurry of stolen bases to be witnessed.

before the game started we recieved the depressing news that the Dodgers had placed Vicente Padilla on the Disbaled list again, with irritation in his forearm. as a result of having no one else to replace him, they were forced to call up Ramon Troncsucko from AAA. tronsucko is so bad, he can make Lance Cormier look like an all-star. remember when the Dodgers actually had a bullpen?

the giants are playing banged up as well. pablo sandoval their third baseman (fat ass panda) is out for another month at least with a broken hand, and Mark Derosa hurt his wrist while....well were not sure, he was standing in the batters box last night and like his hand fell of or something, so the giants are playing fontenot at third, and tejada at short.

were witnessing the final painful death of the 2011 Dodger season, as the Dodgers lost again, despite finally showing life with 2 outs in the 9th, and a pretty entertaining blackbeard mini meltdown. losing to the giants 3-1, and finishing another awful homestand at 2-5. we watch in great sadness as the Dodgers make their run towards last place. this game was a snoozefest, and over before it began.

a winless madison bumgarner was looking for his first win of the year, as the Dodgers countered with Chad Billinsly, who was coming off of his 1 hit through 8 inning loss to the Dbacks.

Bills didnt have his best stuff, but still gave the Dodgers a quality start. his pitching line was irrelevent, the Dodgers lineup is a wasteland of automatic outs. Donnie is starting to piss me off with his bunting crap, and these little league lineups are excruciatingly bad.

the giants got on the board in the second inning.  Posey led off with a double to right. Shierholtz and ross fly out. Fontenot doubles in Posey 1-0 giants.

the giants get another run in the third. Bumgarner the pitcher doubles. Torres atempting to sacrifice, reaches base as the bunt is perfectly placed. bumgarner goes to third, and scores on a sanchez sac fly 2-0 giants.

the giants threatened to blow the game open in the 4th inning,  Ross walks, and takes second on a Mitchell pick off error. Fonteonot walks, but Torres and tejada both strike out

Bills almost melts down in the 5th, but barly gets out of it. posey and ross are walked, and Sheirholtz is hit by a pitch to load the bases, Bills strikes out Fontenot to end the inning.

the giants picked up there third run in the 6th inning, with Bills still in the game. tejada singles, and is sacrificed to second. torres grounds out, but Sanchez singles him home making it 3-0.

bills was hit for in the bottom of the 6th. here is his line for the night. 6IP 6 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts, plus two hit batters.

Javy Guerra who looks very good, pitches a scoreless 7th inning, followed by Guerrier who pitches the 8th.

with the score still 3-0, Ramon troncuscko is brought in to pitch the 9th, and retires the side in order, most fans had to be revived from complete shock.

here is where the game gets interesting. the giants leave bumgarner in to pitch the 9th. I dont blame them at this point, with the dodgers pathetic lineup, it should have been an easy complete game shutout for Bumgarner, but he runs out of gas.
the Dodgers only had 5 hits up to this point. there were in danger of being shutout at home for the fourth time this year.
Kemp flies out, and Uribe pops out. 2 outs, and where are the guardian angels from last night? even they packed up and went home.

then something amazing happens, the dodgers begin a last ditched hail mary comeback.

the giants take out Bumgarner, and bring in Blackbeard. remember blackbeard blew the save last night.
hilariously Blackbeard begins to have his very own meltdown ala Jonathon Broxton. Gibbons pinch hitting for Mitchell walks. Loney batting for troncsucko also walks, as Blackbeard cant locate his fastballs.
with the bases loaded, up comes Carroll. remember the Dodgers are like 3 for a million with the bases loaded this year. are the guardians back to help us again? nope. the 9th inning was like having a chocolate milkshake dangled in front of our faces, and then just when we reach for it, it gets spilled all over our feet.  Carroll slices a low line drive to shallow right field, but giants right fielder Shierholtz makes a game ending diving catch on Carroll's liner, sending us all further into depression.

im struggling to find anything positive to say at this point. were now 20-25, five games below .500. I hate to have to throw up the white flag before june, but its time to start selling. we need to replenish the farm system. theres no shame in rebuilding so we can make a run in 2012, or 2013.
