Dodgers eat Jmac for lunch as Lilly gets 10th win

The Dodgers found themselves once again facing an old teammate. former Dodger prospect James Mcdonald,who was traded to the Pirates last season, faced off against Ted Lilly and the Dodgers saturday night.

before the game we learned that Atlanta had won and the Dodgers had been officially eliminated from the wild card race. were just playing for pride now.

Ted Lilly had one of his strongest outings of the year, pitching 7 innings, allowing 1 run off 4 hits, and whiffing 7. Lilly made 97 pitches as he picked up his 10th win. Jmac however had a terrible start. everyone joined in on the fun as Kemp, rivera, Loney, and Gordon each had two hits, and Sands had three. Loney and Rivera hit home runs, and Kemp stole his 40th base. heres how it happened.

After Lilly sets the down the Bucs in order in the top of the first, the Dodgers jump all over Jmac in the first  inning for three runs.
Gordon beats out a grounder for an infield single. which Sellers at bat, he is picked off of First base for a TOOTBLAN.
Sellers walks. Kemp flies to right. Rivera singles Sellers to third. that Gordon TOOTBLAN is looking big now. our Comeback kid, James Loney homers again in his second straight at bat. he clobbered a pitch halfway up the right field bleachers. Loney's 11th home run gives the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.

Lilly coughs up a run in the second, Lee and Ludwick both walk. Wood flies out. harrison's double down the line scores Lee. 3-1 Dodgers. Lilly settles down though. Mckenry flies out, and Jmac grounds out to end the frame.

move to the bottom of the third. with the score 3-1, Jmac continued to meltdown like chefs on a quarter pounder.
Kemp singles, Rivera homers into the Dodger bullpen for his fourth with the Dodgers, and Kemp scores his 100th run. 5-1 Dodgers!
Loney doubles inside the third base line, as the ball rolls to the tarp. The Pirates have a meeting on the mound. Miles pops out. Loney advances to third on a wild pitch.  but Sands and Fedex both whiff to end the inning.

Lilly whiffs two more in the top of the 4th. giving him 6 whiffs already.

Jmac was lifted after only 4 innings. he allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, and showed us we didn't miss much with him.

Miles makes a great diving play on a Mckenry grounder, as Lilly rolls right through the 5th inning.

in the bottom of the 5th, the Dodgers picked up another run, off reliever Daniel Moskos.  with 1 out, Miles reaches when Derek Lee drops a throw from Brandon Wood. they give Lee an error. Sands and Fedex both single, with Miles scoring. 6-1 Dodgers. were seeing the blue future here with all these youngsters.
Lilly sacrifices the runners to second and third, but Gordon is out on a nice play by Walker.

Lilly whiffs Ludwick to end the 6th. thats 7 whiffs for Lilly now. still 6-1 Dodgers.

Kemp after fouling a pitch off of his foot in the bottom of the 6th, singles, and then steals his 40th base of the year. congrats Bison! Kemp takes third on the throwing error by Mckenry. Rivera whiffs. Loney walks.
Rookie Jared Hughes gets Miles to ground out. its 6-1 Dodgers.

Lilly allows just a double in the 7th but thats it. Lilly through 7 innings, only 1 run on 4 hits and 7 whiffs. probably one of Lilly's best games of the season. I might have to stop making fun of him if he keeps pitching this well.

Jerry Sands collects his third hit of the game in the 7th, a double. Sandman is red hot right now.

Eovaldi comes in for the 8th with the Dodgers still up 6-1. D'arnaud singles. Mccutchen singles him to third. he hits Lee with a pitch. finally Mattingly brings a hook for the sketchy youngster. of coarse with the bases loaded. Jansen is brought in so Donnie is in no mood to screw around tonight. Jansen begins by falling behind to Ludwick 3-0, and battles back to whiff him. Jansen then whiffs garret Jones. thats Jones' 100th whiff of the season.

Veras pitches the bottom of the 8th for Pittsburg, and does his job, and we go to the bottom of the 9th, with the Dodgers leading 6-1.

Dougie, the new baby daddy, comes in for the 9th. he whiffs Harrison. Mckenry pops out to gordon. Alvarez walks. Presley singles up the middle. D'arnoud grounds out to end the game. Dodgers win :)
great game. the Dodgers now need just 6 more wins for a winning season. join us tomorrow afternoon as the Dodgers finish off the bucs on fan appreciation day. Chad Billingsley will take the mound. then the last three home games of the season against the Giants. with the win the Dodgers improve to 39-38 at home.
