the Dodgers completed a three game sweep of the Houston Astros today, by winning 7-0. it was a well needed break from the losing, and im sad to see houston go. if only the Dodgers could move to the NL central where we could play 18 chuncky games against Houston. right?

Kuroda shut outs Houston. he is a DBF favorite

the Dodgers finally gave Kuroda some run support, by hitting three homeruns. a two run shot from navarro, a solo blast by Bison, and a very exciting three run homerun by rookie Justin Sellers for his first major league homerun. how about that huh? this was plenty for Hiroki as he mostly cruised through 7 innings of shutout ball.

the Dodgers threatened right away in the bottom of the first inning. Gwynn walked and stole second. then Carroll walked, but back to back fly ball outs by Ethier and Kemp followed. and Miles fouls out to Paredes as he makes a catch leaning over the Dodger dugout railing and nearly falling head first, had trey Hillman not caught him preventing injury.

Kuroda allows a Bogusevic single, he strikes out Paredes, and Sanchez hits a liner that Loney snares and makes a diving tag on Bogusevic for a very nice double play!

the Dodgers take the lead in the bottom of the second off of Lyles. Loney singles, and Navarro pops a two run homer to right. 2-0 dodgers! its Navarro's 5th homer of the year. all his pudge gives him a little pop.

pudgito rounds the bases after his pudge gave him his 5th homer

in the bottom of the third, Kemp homers over the center field wall, for his 28th homer and 89th RBI, both career highs. hes now tied for the league lead in homeruns again I beleive, tied with berkman and Pujols, unless one of them homered today, and I havent checked yet, well anyways it gives the Dodgers a 3-0 lead in the third.

Bison blasts his 28th homer of the year.

Kuroda who struck out Corporan and Lyles in the third, rolled through the 4th inning. theres a groundball single to Altuve, Martinez hits into a force, Carlos Lee hits a wicked line drive right into Kuroda's glove, Kuroda using his ninja like reflexes of coarse. Kuroda was able to double up Martinez at second.

move to the top of the 5th, with the Dodgers up 3-0 Kuroda pitches out of a bit of trouble. with two outs, Sanchez singles, Corporan is hit by a pitch, but Lyles strikes out and thats it for the 5th.

skip to the bottom of the 6th, where the Dodgers score four runs to break the game open. Bison singles to right, and steals second. his 31st steal of the year. Miles singles up the middle to score Kemp and Miles takes second on the throw home. 4-0 Dodgers. after Loney pops out, Navarro walks, and then rookie Justin Sellers slams his first major league homerun, a smash into the Dodger bullpen! way to go kid! Welcome to the show! Sellers is pumped up, and congratulated by his teammates inthe dugout. the crown asked for a curtain call from Sellers, and he stepped out of the dugout and tipped his hat to the crowd. A nice moment during an awful season.

Justin Sellers recieves a curtain call from Dodger fans as he hit his first homerun

so with the score now 7-0 Dodgers houston manager Brad Mills finally removes Lyles and brings in David Carpenter. he actually gives up a single to kuorda, but limits the scorage. gettng a fielder's choice to gwynn, and Ethier grounds out, after carroll had singled.

Kuroda comes out for the 7th inning, he allows a single to Lee, then Bogusevic grounds into a force out, Paredes walks, but Sanchez grounds into an inning ending double play.

Rodriguez pitches the bottom of the 7th for Houston and allows a Miles double, and a Loney walk, but thats it, with Navarro grounding into a double play as well.

Hawksworth pitches a 123 8th inning for the Dodgers.

Rodriguez gets through the 8th walking he walks Oeltjen but Gwynn flies out, and Carroll strikes out.

Kuo comes in for the top of the 9th and pitches a 123 9th inning. as he strikes out Michaels to end the game. this was something Kuo needed to help his confidence.

Kuroda goes 7 shutout innings allowing just 5 hits, walking none and striking out 6. he picks up his 8th win while loering his ERA to a very pretty 2.88

the winning was nice but its back to the reality of losing as the Dodgers will head on the road for a 10 game beer trip. yep thats four games in Milwaukee (miller park) three games in colorado (coors field)  and three games in St. Louis (bush stadium) as Ted Lilly will face old friend Randy Wolf tomorrow in Milwaukee at 510PM televised on Prime Ticket. Im sure the homer happy Brewers will have a fun time with Lilly's meatballs. stay tuned for a beer pregame edition tomorrow! until then bottoms up Dodger fans! sweep! GO BLUE
